Wednesday Market located at the
St. Augustine Pavilion
open from 7:30 to 12:30

There’s plenty going on in St. Augustine Beach this month. The Civic Association’s MUSIC BY THE SEA CONCERTS will be in full swing on Wednesday nights. The schedule for June is:
June 6 Elizabeth Roth dinner by Antonio’s Pizza
June 13 Falling Bones dinner by Zhanras
June 20 Roland Fleming dinner by Barnacle Bill’s
June 27 Those Guys dinner by Beef O’Brady’s
Dinners served at 6pm music starts at 7pm. Bring a chair and enjoy the food, music and ocean breezes.
On Wednesday mornings the Civic Association’s FARMERS/ ARTS&CRAFTS MARKET takes place from 8am to 12:30pm. There’s plenty of fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods and an array of fine art and crafts. The shopping is fun and there is plenty of free parking.
On the weekend of June 15th the Friends of Anastasia Island Library will be holding a used book sale at the site of the soon to be opened library located in Sea Grove on A1AS. There will be music and food provided by Chef Says. All are invited to stop by and get a first hand view of our new library which will have its official opening ceremonies on Saturday August 11th at 10am.
The new library will be an 8,000 sq. ft. structure with parking for 290 cars. It will have meeting rooms, children’s area, 19 computers and approximately 15,000 books, tapes, DVD’s and other materials which will expand to 40,000 items. The building will be Wi-Fi capable. The planned hours of operation will be M-Th 9am to 9:30pm, Fri-Sat 9am to 5pm. Local artist Manilla Clough has designed mosaics for the entrance as well as note cards and placards. Volunteers can contact the St. Johns County Library for more information about getting involved.
Another issue affecting the new library is the need for a traffic signal at the intersection of A1AS and A Street, the entrance to Sea Grove. The most recent report from the Florida DOT has approved the design of the signals, even though the required level of traffic has not yet been met. This will allow the developers of Sea Grove to order materials for construction so that work can begin in December of 2007 and be completed soon afterward. Although the signal will not be in place for the August opening of the library, the FDOT has been very responsive to the requests of the community for this much needed signal. We thank all those involved for their hard work fast-tracking this signal installation.
